Issue #1 Now Here
The time has finally come. Our very first issue is now here! And on Christmas Day, to boot. Click on the link below to view, or download it. It’s 57 pages and a total file size of 9.9mb. Come January, we’ll also be making it available for reading on-line. on our official non-blog site. Any feedback is welcome and we hope you enjoy our humble beginnings. There’s articles on the new Hulk, Clockwork Girl, B.P.M, Street Fighter and a lot more, all with glorious full colour pictures.
We’re Still Here
You know the phrase, “unforeseeable circumstances”? Yeah, we had one – a bad one. However, Dave and I still believe in what we’re doing and are coming to understand that trying to attempt a unique magazine that appeals to both fanboys and comic book civilians is a noble endeavour. I have seen with much joy this week several of my colleagues (all females) who have literally fallen in love with Craig Thompson’s enchanting Blankets. It’s a wondrous thing to see your friends come to appreciate something you do so dearly. BTW, Thompson’s blog is great looking, and even has a photo of him manically chopping wood with his shirt off. Who’da thunk? I’ve been steamrolling ahead with more Broken Frontier work, which I’m happy about and have learnt, once more, that we can not control what happens to us in life, only how we respond to it. Next month, Extra Sequential will get back on track. It’s not a stop, just a delay.
Getting there
After a productive lunchtime on Friday and a productive weekend from Dave, my partner in creative crime, our Hulk feature article is coming together. It looks fantastic and I’ve gotta say, the two of us work very well as a pair. The fanboy and the tentative fan make beautiful music together. We have some great pics to work with, but not just slapping them down on the page is our main aim. We want to be more than a portable art gallery of the finest in comic book art, but make Extra Sequential more than the sum of parts; a work of art in itself.
Next, we’ll be working on our B.P.M article, something very different from Hulk, but just as pretty.
Rolling with da Cheese
Yeah it was Chicken, cheese and avocado today as we were back in the Leather sofa at the local cafe, cranking out another page on Photoshop and Indesign of ES in between earning a living. Things are looking good on The Cover Story with some really strong images from the new series of the Hulk. The ES cover is done, the ES icon is done (see opposite), the contents page is done and we are well into the cover story. 6 pages done, 54 to go and about 54 days to get them done… eek that’s a page a day. That doesn’t sound a lot but when your aiming to construct those super coloured rainbow structures (see post below) that just make you go Ooooooooooooooo, it’s full on baby!Lets hope we get there, may the force be with us, over and out Dave (Art Ed ES).
